ANTIPAROS ISLAND

Antiparos is one of the small Cycladic islands, typically greek with a beautiful landscape and with many sandy beaches. The area is 35 km2. It is 12 km long and at most 5 km wide. It has about 750 inhabitants, who live in the small seaport and village on the northern side of the island. The village is even in summertime not overcrowded, but very well prepared for visitors. Antiparos has a romantic fishing-harbour with restaurants and cafés. The inside part of the village is closed for traffic. The village extends from the east to the west cost. It is a cosy, especially pretty and clean Cycladic village with a lot of good restaurants, little, well equipped supermarkets and nice shops of every kind. You will find as well a post office, a bank, a bancomat, scooter-, bike- and car-rentals, one disco and some nice bars. 1 km outside there are 2 petrol stations.

About 9 km to the south east there is Sorros lying at a beautiful sandy beach with two good restaurants. During the day buses run regularly from the harbour of Antiparos to Glyfa, Sorros and Ajas Jorgos passing most of the houses which we rent.

Antiparos is situated opposite the five times larger island of Paros. From Antiparos you can take one of the four ferry boats which brings you across to Pounda/ Paros within 5 minutes. In the summertime they run every 20 minutes (at night every hour) from 6.20 p.m. until 2.45 a.m. Out of season every hour (at night every two hours) from 7 p.m. until midnight.

Buses regularly run from Pounda to the harbour and capital of Paros, Parikia. The old town of Parikia, its basilica and museums etc. are worth a sightseeing. During the summer there are direct boats from Parikia to Antiparos, too (approximately half an hour-journey).

Very close to the village there are fine sandy beaches. At two of them you can rent surfboards and pedal boats. Further you will find outside of the village a lot of marvellous beaches as well as small and lonely coves which you can reach and discover by bike, scooter, car or bus but also by foot.

At the end of the island in the very south you will find the little settlement of Ajas Jorgos with some summerhouses and three restaurants.

From the harbour of Parikia boats are going to Piraia, Naxos, Ios, Thira, Delos, Mykonos, Tinos, Syros, Samos, Ikaria, Kreta, Sifnos, Milos, Serifos, Rhodes etc.

Paros has also a little airport for flights from and to Athens. The flight lasts 40 minutes. It take 10 minutes by taxi from Pounda to the airport.

All the houses that we present on Antiparos are private, and the owners whom we know for many years are very friendly and reliable. It is our intention to present to our guests houses of all sizes and prices.

Each house is situated in a specially beautiful surroundings, always close to a sandy beach and is well and attractively furnished. Nearly all of them have a wonderful view to the sea, some of them are even directly situated on the beach or on the sea.
